It may seem surprising, with so many new-fangled and creative
baby names in circulation today, but the popularity of unisex, or androgynous
baby names (names used by both boys and girls) has been declining for at least
the past decade. Beginning with data from 1995, we have tracked the appearance
and disappearance of unisex baby names in the list of the Top 1000 Most Popular
baby names in the United States. Below are links to our various studies, with
the most recent study being an analysis of unisex baby names based on the most
recent statistics for 2007.
