What's the definition of a "cute" baby name? The term comes up so frequently, that we decided to do a bit of research and see what people really mean when they talk about cute baby names.

If you Google the phrase "cute baby names," five of the top ten results are websites dedicated to the topic. The top-ranked site promises "25,000" cute baby names! Who knew there were so many out there! But when we checked, at www.cute-baby-names.org, the first set of names we saw, called the "top cute baby names," was just a list of the top 100 most popular baby names! Hey, you can't say all baby names are cute. Can you?

On to www.cutebabynames.org where they promised even more -- 30,000 cute baby names! We're in cute baby names heaven! But once again, it's just a database of names, starting with the letter 'A' and moving through the alphabet, calling everything "cute." I like the name 'Adalbrechta' as much as the next person, but it ain't cute by any stretch of the imagination.

Maybe www.cutebabynames4u.com would have the goods. No such luck. Once again, the general idea is that any name is cute if you interpret the phrase liberally enough. We were starting to feel cheated as we did our research!

The final baby names site we visited even did a "bait-and-switch," promising "cute baby names" but serving up a list of "cool" baby names instead. That's not fair! Everybody knows that cool baby names are most definitely not the same as cute baby names.

Where could we find really cute baby names? We decided to visit a site called www.babyrazzi.com, a celebrity baby gossip site with the word "cute" in almost every other sentence. Surely they would have some cute baby names.

Success! The word cute was everywhere -- he's so cute, she's so cute, even a video interview was described as "cute!" To create our list of authentic cute baby names, we grabbed all the names we saw that had the adjective "cute" in the same sentence. Cute, guaranteed.
